Unity Adds Dedicated Engine Support for Netflix Games

Unity has recently announced the launch of dedicated engine support for Netflix Games, aimed at simplifying the game development process and enabling developers to more easily publish high-quality games across mobile and TV platforms. According to Unity, this update includes optimizations for Netflix's cloud gaming service, allowing developers to build once and ship across multiple platforms, thereby expediting the experience for Netflix members from browsing to playing games. This move signifies a deepening of the long-standing partnership between Unity and Netflix, with several games on the Netflix platform, such as "Black Mirror: Thronglets," "Unhinged," and "Squid Game: Unleashed," already developed using the Unity engine. Notably, Unity is also set to launch its latest game engine, Unity 7, in the first quarter of 2027, which is expected to further enhance development efficiency and compatibility.
